Slayer System
Introducing the Slayer System
Slayer is a key part of player progression on Nexus. It will take you across Maple World to hunt different monsters, earn rewards, gain EXP, and progress without being stuck grinding the same few maps.
Everything Slayer-related is handled by the Slayer Taskmaster, Mr. Grubber, who can be found in every major town throughout Nexus. You can start taking tasks at level 10. The @slayer command can only be used if you have already been assigned a task and it shows you what your current task is.
How It Works
- Talk to the Slayer Master to get a task.
- Tasks are based on your current level.
- You'll be given a monster and a kill count.
- Finish the task to get your rewards.
Party Play
- When a task is assigned, there is a 30-second window where anyone else grabbing a task will get the same one.
- This lets you easily grab the same task as your friends, guild, or party.
- If you're playing alone, just take a task and head to the map. There may already be other players there doing the same task, so feel free to party up.
- Maps and mobs have also been adjusted to make party play more worthwhile.
- Alternatively if you prefer not to play with others, kills count as double while not in a party.
Task Rules
- You cannot see the current task before accepting it.
- You cannot cancel a Slayer task once you take it.
- You must finish your current task before getting another one.
This is to stop people from rerolling until they get the best task.
๐ Slayer Ring
Completing Slayer tasks will progress and evolve your Slayer Ring, increasing its stats as you continue through the system. The more Slayer you do, the stronger the ring becomes.
๐ช Slayer Shop
Completing tasks earns Slayer Coins, which can be spent in the Slayer Shop on important upgrades and progression items. More rewards and uses for Slayer Coins will be added over time.
The idea is simple: take the task you get, move around Maple World, progress your character, and party up with whoever you run into.
Enhancements
Equip Enhancement Scrolls
Enhancement Scrolls are used to star-up your equipment after its upgrade slots are finished, and this is where real end-game power comes from.
- Failed enhancements never destroy the item. The item keeps all of its stars and only the scroll is consumed.
- Higher current stats give better gains, and higher scroll tiers multiply those gains further.
- Each scroll tier only works on its own star range, and the game will tell you if you're using the wrong one. Maximum is 20 stars.

Item Potential
Potential is a bonus power system for your equipment. An item with potential carries up to 3 extra stat lines on top of its normal stats, things like %STR, %damage against bosses, or a chance to ignore enemy defense. Potential comes in three tiers of increasing strength at the moment: Rare, Epic, and Unique.
Rolling good potential is one of the main ways to grow your damage on Nexus, especially once your gear is scrolled and enhanced.
Getting Potential
- Use a Potential Scroll (70% success) or an Advanced Potential Scroll (90% success) on an equip to give it Rare potential.
- A new potential always has 2 lines, with a 50% chance for a 3rd line.
- If an item has hidden potential, use a Magnifying Glass to reveal its lines.
- Potential Stamps can add another line to an item that already has revealed potential, up to the maximum of 3 lines.
Miracle Cubes
- Using a Miracle Cube rerolls all of an item's potential lines and costs 1,000 NX Prepaid per reset.
- Cubing keeps your potential revealed.
- Each reset has a chance to tier up: 6% from Rare to Epic and 1.8% from Epic to Unique.
- The first line always rolls at your item's tier. The 2nd and 3rd lines have a 10% and 1% chance to roll at the higher tier.
- Miracle Cubes drop globally from monsters, so you will gather them naturally while grinding. See Global Drops for rates.
Removed Potential Lines
We removed the weakest lines from the potential pool so your cubes roll useful stats more often. The following lines cannot appear on any equip:
- +HP and +MP (flat)
- HP % and MP %
- +Accuracy and +Avoidability (flat)
- Accuracy % and Avoidability %
- +Weapon DEF and +Magic DEF (flat)
- x% chance to ignore x damage when hit
- Increased effectiveness of HP recovery items and skills
On weapons (and shields), these lines are removed as well:
- x% chance to recover HP while attacking
- x% chance to recover MP while attacking
- x% chance to inflict Stun, Slow, Poison, Seal, Darkness, or Ice while attacking
Scrolls
Chaos Scrolls are Nexus's main way of scrolling gear. Instead of adding fixed stats like a normal scroll, a Chaos Scroll boosts every stat your equip already has by a random amount, and on Nexus those rolls only ever go up. Stats can never decrease.
After each use you get a full report showing exactly how much every stat gained, so you always know what your scroll did.
How It Works
- Chaos Scrolls use up one of the item's upgrade slots.
- Every stat the item has (STR, DEX, INT, LUK, attack, defense, HP, MP, and so on) is rolled individually within the scroll's range.
- Failed scrolls never destroy the item. On failure the upgrade slot is still consumed unless you used a White Scroll to protect it.
- Because each stat rolls separately, the best results come from items with many stats, and every point matters.
Chaos Scroll
- Success rate: 60%
- +1 to +4 per stat
- Obtained as a global drop from monsters (level 10+)
Greater Chaos Scroll
- Success rate: 50%
- +3 to +6 per stat
- Drops from expedition bosses (see Bosses)
- Trade: 5 Chaos Scrolls
Miraculous Chaos Scroll

Brilliant Chaos Scroll

- +8 to +13 per stat
- Trade: 2 Miraculous Chaos Scrolls
Trading Up
Lower-tier scrolls can be exchanged for the next tier at Doctor Bing in the Free Market: 5 Chaos Scrolls โ 1 Greater, 5 Greater โ 1 Miraculous, 2 Miraculous โ 1 Brilliant.
Bosses
Nexus bosses are fought as expeditions through our squad system, and each one comes with a 20 minute time limit. Daily bosses can be cleared once per day and weekly bosses once per week, with clear rewards on top of the drop lists below.
Squad System
- Talk to the boss NPC to register a squad for that boss.
- Squads hold up to 6 members.
- Other players can request to join your squad, and the squad leader approves or rejects each request.
- Once your squad is ready, the leader starts the expedition and everyone is moved inside.
DPM Requirements
Each boss lists recommended damage-per-minute requirements per role so you know when you are ready. ST is single target and MT is multi target. Roles are explained in Skill Changes.
Drop list abbreviations: WS = White Scroll, CS = Chaos Scroll, GCS = Greater Chaos Scroll, EES = Equip Enhancement Scroll.

Skill Changes
Class Roles
All classes have been organized into one of three archetypes:
โ๏ธ DPS
Focus on dealing as much damage as possible.
Hero, Dark Knight, Fire/Poison Mage, Evan, Bowmaster, Night Lord, Dual Blade, Corsair, Mechanic
๐ก๏ธ Utility
Provide team protection, crash boss defenses, and boost drop rate.
Paladin, Bishop, Battle Mage, Shadower
โจ Support
Amplify the party's damage through powerful buffs and offensive support.
Ice/Lightning Mage, Marksman, Wild Hunter, Buccaneer
Universal Party Skills
Each role has a set of universal party skills that are shared across all classes within the same role:
- All DPS can deal out tons of damage.
- All Utility are able to crash boss defenses and provide damage immunity.
- All Support have the core support buffs needed to fully juice up the party.
General Changes
These changes apply across all classes:
- Skills and skill levels have been adjusted so that there is enough SP to max every skill in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Job for every class. No more getting stuck because you maxed the "wrong" skill.
- Hero's Will โ Cooldown reduced to 60s.
- All Buffs โ Duration increased to 600s.
- Summoning Rock โ Summoning Rock requirement removed from all skills.
- Skill Books โ Skills are automatically learned upon job advancement; skill quests are no longer needed.
- Mastery Books โ Mastery Books and their requirements removed from 1st to 3rd Job skills for both Evan and Dual Blade.
Skill Range Changes
Attack ranges have been rebalanced across all classes. In vanilla, ranged classes had a massive reach advantage over melee, but on Nexus the gap is much smaller, so melee classes can compete without standing on top of the boss:
